Aging in Place

  • Permit affordable housing projects that are entirely or partially age-restricted

Rental Units

  • Allow small multi-family housing by-right in the downtown urban core and village centers

  • Create design standards to ensure that projects fit the character of Taunton without having to go through the extensive special permit process

Single-family homes

  • Adopt open space design/natural resource protection zoning for subdivisions in order to encourage single-family residential development that has a reduced environmental and fiscal impact

aFFORDABLE HOUSING

  • Reuse abandoned and foreclosed property

  • Repurpose industrial properties, such as old mills, into affordable housing projects

  • Encourage mixed-use development in downtown and village centers with housing on upper-floors
