Government Reform

We must strive for effective governance through policies and procedures that ensure transparency, efficiency, and accountability.

Transparency

• Include separate packets, presentations, draft ordinances and other relevant attachments in agendas and minutes for public meetings

• Post a log of public records requests and the documents that accompany them on the City’s website

Efficiency

• Review and revise the City’s archaic charter

• Implement program or performance based budgeting

Accountability

• Put implementation mechanisms into place to ensure that the plans we are creating are actually being enacted, including the Comprehensive Master Plan, Housing Production Plan, Downtown Plan, and Open Space Plan

• Engage relevant stakeholders and residents of the community in implementation mechanisms and accountability efforts

• Establish periodic reviews of progress

• Incorporate plans into annual departmental planning and budgeting
